The Colour of Magic / The Light Fantastic reminds me somewhat of Douglas Adams' Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I think it's the way so much is going on, and how random it appears. Also Rincewind / Twoflower have a Ford Prefect / Arthur Dent something about them, only reversed.

Isn't Jeremy Irons lovely? Um, some other stuff's happened too -- I've been too busy admiring Jeremy's hair and spotting the bits filmed in Snowdonia. (Pyg Track!)

Laughed lots, and there are a few deviations from the book...

But it's that changeable sort of story, like The Hitchhiker's Guide.
